Scenic Route Theatre is an Edmonton-based company dedicated to the development, production, promotion, and presentation of Canadian stories which highlight the rich history, diversity and accomplishments of Canadians.
We serve the Edmonton theatre and film community and perform/screen throughout Alberta
Clare Mullen and Tim Marriott are embarking on a one-hour documentary film on Edmonton’s favourite storyteller Tony Cashman. Using interviews captured over the course of 7 years and, with the addition of historical photos, including Tony’s personal ones, they plan to weave the story of Edmonton through this extraordinary individual.
Anthony "Tony" Cashman was born April 29, 1923 in Edmonton, Alberta. Tony attended Grandin School and St. Joseph's High School. He served in the Second World War from 1942-1945 as a navigator with the RCAF, flying 30 missions over Germany. In 1953, Tony began a series of broadcasts entitled, "The Edmonton Story" for CJCA radio. The stories illustrated Edmonton's history and were later compiled into many books, the first published in 1956.
Tony’s personal experience of being an Edmontonian is every Edmontonian’s story. He shares the hopes, the growing pains, the excitement that it means to live, work and play in Edmonton.
